Our team was invited to Trders Hotel, Penang for the launching of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Fair to support local arts, culture and traditon last week.
The two-days fair took place at the hotel on the 13 June 2009 from 11am to 8pm and 14 June 2009 from 11am to 5pm.
A variety of activities will take place throughout the fair to promote local arts, culture and tradition. Admission is free of charge and the event is open to all.

One of the highlight of this fair is the Yayasan Tuanku Nur Zahirah, Royal Terengganu Songket.
Yayasan Tuanku Nur Zahirah (Under the Royal Patronage of Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah) supports single weavers, and promotes and preserves the country's songket herritage. It aims is to improves lives through heritage by creating fair employment opportunities for artisans and weavers.

Moving on, Dato' Kee Phaik Cheen unveil the book writen by Khoo Salma Nasution.

There will also be a meet the author and book signing session by Areca Books featuring authors Khoo Salma Nasution and Luc de Gijzel, "Penang Hokkien Pocket Dictionary". Luc de Gijzel is an English man who wrote the book on Penang Hokkien. Catchy isn't it?
Among other exhibition in the Corporate Social Responsibility fair are; the Art Exhibition by Jin-Xiu Art Gallery, Tea Sampling by Lao Sher Tea House and a beaded shoe demonstration by Khoo Lay Im.

This is the first time Traders Hotel, Penang have organised a CSR Fair in hopes that there will be more such events to encourage the growth and development of local artisans, crafts and herritage.
